A FEW THOUGHTS FROM THE WORLD OF SPORTS

BASEBALL..........A Rod hit home run # 661 to surpass Willie Mays and become the # 4 all time leader in that category.  I have to ask if anyone truly cares what A Rod ( the cheater and liar) really does.  A Rod should never even be mentioned in the same sentence with,  Mays.  Aaron, Ruth, and Mays accomplished their home run stats without being juiced up on PED S

GOLF........ Once again, Phil Mickelson withdrew from a big golf event.  This time it was the WGC match play competition held in San Francisco, that was won by the # 1 golfer in the world, Rory McIlroy.  Phil once again as in so many other times stated that he would not play due to personal reasons.  I have said so many times that Mickelson needs to play more often than not. since his game lacks consistency.  After skipping the WGC, Phil showed up at the Players Tournament, played at the TPC Sawgrass course.  Needless to say, the time off did not help as he had rounds of 73 and 76, for a total of 5 over par and missing the cut.  You truly need to play more Phil if you hope to remain competitive.  One additional note:  Tiger Woods sank a 9 foot birdie putt on the final hole that should allow him to make the cut.  Good to see.

BASKETBALL.......Very difficult to get a feel on some of the NBA playoff games, especially if one is picking the outcome based on Las Vegas odds.  So many games involve injuries so it makes it difficult to assess how many points a player is worth when sitting out.  Kevin Love (Cleveland), Chris Paul (LA Clippers) and now possibly John Wall (Washington) just to name a few.  Maybe we would not see so many injuries if the season is shortened a little.  Just a thought.

BOXING..........The fight that so many waited 5 years to see finally came and now is gone.  Two fighters. (Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao) well past their prime, stepped into the ring to go 12 rounds for what is reported to be a 100 million dollar payday for each of them.  The hype for the fight could not have been any bigger as the celebrities flocked to Las Vegas for what was termed as the "fight of the century."  So many paid the $99.00 fee to see this major event on pay per view.  Everyone knows by now that Mayweather won an unanimous decision over Manny Pacquiao.  As it turns out, the fight was nothing close to anything to get excited about.  To sum it all up, we had one fighter (Pacquiao) supposedly fighting with one arm as it was reported he had suffered a torn rotator cuff, while the other fighter (Mayweather)  looked more like he was competing on Dancing With The Stars or maybe even running a marathon.  If this was the "fight of the century,"then boxing has truly become a dying sport.  Please no rematch !!!!!!!!!

FOOTBALL..........It now appears that squeaky clean, Tom Brady had something to do with the deflated footballs during the AFC playoff game with the Colts.  Based on the investigation conducted by, Ted Wells, it was stated that based on their investigation,  it is their conclusion that officials locker room attendant, Jim McNally and equipment assistant, John Jastremski  deflated the footballs and at the very least, Brady was aware of this being done.  Much was based on texts and e mails between the men, except Brady refused to provide his cell during the investigation.  I have no idea how much Brady was involved, but one has to wonder when someone refuses to cooperate during a high publicized investigation.  Maybe Tommy Boy isn't so squeaky clean after all.

When your own fans (Yankee fans) have a problem recognizing you (A. Rodriguez) as a record setter, then you know nobody will ever take your accomplishments seriously

there are more injures in this years nba playoffs than they been in the past 5 or 6 years. If I was a gambler now would be good time to take a break for nba games
