A FEW THOUGHTS FROM AROUND SPORTS

Several things come to mind from time to time that we share our thoughts and welcome your comments.

NFL..........Tom Brady decided to skip the invitation to the White House with his teammates to celebrate their Super Bowl championship.  It was reported that Brady had a prior commitment and would not be able to attend.  It was also suggested that he has very few days off to spend with his family so the commitment was to be with them.  I can understand why he has little time available when you consider that he recently played golf at the famed Augusta National with pro, Keegan Bradley and another appearance on the golf course with # 1 rated golfer, Rory McIlroy.  Golf certainly will take time away from family.  You can expect to see Brady at ringside for the upcoming Mayweather/Pacquiao fight in Las Vegas.  His traditional appearance at the Kentucky Derby will also be a consideration for his busy non related family time.  Since Brady had made 3 previous White House appearances when the country was under the leadership of George Bush, some have speculated that Brady's decision to snub President Obama was political.  Possibly that may be true but one thing we would not be surprised to see is Brady pursuing a political future for himself following his football career.  The man certainly likes being scene in the public eye when not spending family time.
NFL.......DALLAS COWBOYS    Newly acquired woman beater, Greg Hardy wasted no time getting into a confrontation with teammate, Davon Coleman.  It seems Hardy felt Coleman was dogging it while running sprints and Coleman followed by letting Hardy know how he felt by calling Hardy a woman beater,  Hardy is appealing a 10 game suspension relating to his woman beating activities.  No telling how low the Cowboys are willing to go in their attempt to desperately win. Hardy should consider himself lucky that he is not in jail.  Remember he was convicted by a judge in North Carolina for domestic violence.  He won the right to have a jury trial after the judge convicted him and was able to avoid a trial altogether when the victim failed to show up.  LUCKY MAN
NFL.........DALLAS COWBOYS..Dallas QB, Tony Romo has predicted that the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl this year.  Touted as having the best offensive line in football and having an unstoppable offensive machine, Romo is going out on a limb with his bold prediction.  It is nice to have confidence in your team, but someone needs to tell Tony that they may need something that resembles a defense to make his prediction come true.
NFL DRAFT.....There is much speculation on who the # 1 pick in this years draft will be.   Most experts say it will be Jameis Winston over Marcus Mariota.  They are probably right, but then the question is whether Winston is the best pro prospect.  Just a feeling but I think I would go with Mariota as my first pick.
BOXING.......By now everyone has to know that the big fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will finally take place, May 2 in Las Vegas.  As always, the experts have their predictions and right now it appears that Mayweather is the strong favorite.  It was even reported that Mayweather will have, Justin Bieber in his corner and if that is true then it has to be expected that no way, Mayweather can lose.  Having nothing to lose and occasionally favoring the underdog, I will go against all the odds, including Justin Bieber and pick Pacquiao in the upset.   FINAL NOTE  The fighters will be making millions on the fight while the referee is reportedly getting $25000.
GOLF....Following this years, Masters Golf Tournament, LPGA player, Paula Creamer suggested that Augusta should hold  a Masters tournament for the women the week following the men's event.
Even though Augusta National opened its doors to 3 women members to date, I hate to give Paula the bad news that a women's Masters at Augusta will never happen.  Nothing against the ladies but I am not aware of any golf course that would entertain 2 major tournaments in one year.  Sorry Paula
NCAA.....As always we will close our thoughts on stating that NCAA President, Mark Emmert should be fired and the corrupt NCAA should be disbanded.  College athletics would certainly be better for it.

Romos wishful thinking sounds like it was something his girlfriend told him was possible so he bought it.

Was Tom Brady's family commitment an emergency? bc I'm pretty sure with his money pushing back a vacation a day wouldn't hurt him. Or i'm sure a relative wouldn't mind him missing a birthday party for a visit to the white house. Really Tom??

Brady must be tryin to send a message to President O. Although I doubt the president will really notice that he's missing

Pacquiao vs Mayweather should be good if watching at a bar or friends house, The $99 pay-per-view price tag to watch it yourself is too much

OUCH. $99?! I was thinking about getting it. I'll be looking for places showing it now

Romo is delusional and the Cowboys suck

buzzworthy411 said...

the $99.00 must be for the coverage of the fight and the justin beeber performance when he walks out with mayweather

Put Romo - Hardy - Brady - and Mayweather together in the same town and you got yourself a circus. They all got issues

You're absolutely right about the golf tournament. 2 major tournaments is unheard of,

Jameis Winston is the same as a flight risk. The team that drafts him are just going to be inviting problems , altho for some teams that doesn't make a difference
