THE TIGER WOODS/PHIL MICKELSON GOLF ERA IS OVER

I have been saying for some time that Tiger Woods is pretty much done as a serious competitor on the PGA tour.  Lets face it, Woods has not been the same since his ex wife put that iron through the back window of his Cadillac Escalade.  It was not then that I felt Woods would come crashing down in regards to his golf game.  Even changing caddies after so many years with Steve Williams on his bag did not make me feel that his dominance was coming to an end.  Injuries started to pop up along with penalties for rules violations, started to make me feel that things just were not right.  I would not question how legitimate his injuries were or how much of a factor they truly played in the collapse of his game, but I must admit that they were starting to look to me as some degree of excuses.  I first predicted that Woods would not break Jack Nicklaus' record for number of major wins at 18.  After things continued to get worse, I predicted that Woods would not win another major tournament at all.
I have now reached a point to predict that Woods will not win another regular season event.  His game is all over the place and there are 2 things that make me draw my conclusion.......His confidence and worst of all, his mental state.  I am not sure what can be done to alleviate his problems, but one thing is for sure that he cannot compete the way he is today.

Now for Mickelson.  Phil's game has been up and down lately and maybe shaky at best.  Mickelson goes on diets, gets himself into tip top shape. but there is one thing Mickelson does not do. That is "play"  Last year, Mickelson would pick and choose which tournaments he would participate in.  Taking time off to get ready for an upcoming major obviously did not work.  Now this year, he has announced that he is cutting his schedule to some degree to spend more time with his family.  There is nothing wrong with that and for sure he does not need the money, but then he should not expect his golf game to be on the highest level.  Sure, Phil will say he practices at home, but seriously that cannot compare to being out there competing against the guys who want to beat you.  Quiet practice time at your leisure will never compare to the live field of players and large crowds surrounding you.
Mickelson missed the cut at Torrey Pines yesterday and stated that his putting is pathetic.  We all know that the first things to overcome when not playing much golf is various forms of your short game.  Phil can stay home if he wants to, but truly he cannot expect to compete against the hungry younger guys who are playing every week.  If Phil continues on his current path, I seriously do not see a major win in his future.  You have to play to win.

Tiger is walkin a finer line that Micklason. I just don't have much hope that Tiger can pull it together whereas Phil I feel is always 50/50

they might still win but its nothing to count on. Somebody like Rory needs to take the reins

I think they are both at the stage of asking themselves DO I REALLY NEED TO PLAY...while its true they don't have to, if they are asking themselves that question I think its time for them to retire

I don't see it to be possible for TW to win again. He rested last year and came back and lost. He had surgeries and came back and lost. He had rehab time and came back and lost. If his back is a problem he better look to somethin other than rest, surgery, and rehab to fix it because none of those work

They both need to play more. The time off always crushes them. Tiger may need to put some extra time in but I still think he could make a come back. Phil still got what it takes he just needs to play more

nobody knows about Woods and I see Mickelson in more commercials than I see him on the course

i know some people are still believers in tiger but he hasn't shown any signs of even getting close to being on top again. it would be another story if he was finishing 2nd...3rd...4th...or even a top10 spot,. but he's just falling back down the totem pole
