Due to the Jerry Sandusky scandal, the NCAA hit Penn State University and especially their football program with heavy sanctions. At the time many stated, yours truly included, that the NCAA had no jurisdiction to do so. Sandusky was a criminal matter in which the NCAA has absolutely nothing to do with.
First let us look at what those sanctions were and what are their current status:
Football team would not be bowl eligible for 4 years. That sanction was lifted and Penn State played in the Pin Stripe Bowl last month.
Loss of football scholarships. That sanction has been lifted and Penn State will receive its full compliment once again.
60 million dollar fine that will go to abused youth programs, to be handled and decided by the NCAA where the monies would be distributed. Penn State is not fighting the fine, but the state of Pennsylvania along with the university feel the monies should be used for Pennsylvania youth programs instead of the NCAA controlling the funds. There is a pending upcoming trial to determine where those funds will go.
112 football wins were vacated by the NCAA, 111 of them under the leadership of coach, Joe Paterno.
The status is still current but look for that to change also.
Due to the upcoming trial regarding the 60 million, e mails within the NCAA have been gathered as evidence that show the NCAA knew they had no jurisdiction to hand down any type of sanctions against the university but went ahead anyway. With all the media hype, some unjustified, the NCAA saw their opportunity for a big time public relations campaign. They figured Penn State would bow down to such sanctions to avoid the so called "Death Penalty" that would have wiped out the entire football program. Bottom line is that they bluffed Penn State into accepting the sanctions, mostly due to the spineless, interim President, Rodney Erickson. These emails revealed more than just the jurisdiction question. They also showed that the NCAA was working closely with, Louis Freeh, who was supposedly doing an INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION into the Sandusky scandal. This independent investigation that the NCAA played a major part in was used as their reasons to create the sanctions.
So are we to believe that NCAA President, Mark Emmert and his cronies, all of a sudden have become nice guys by lifting the bowl and scholarship sanctions?? Of course not. The NCAA knows that things are closing in on them. They want no part of the pending trial regarding the 60 million dollars. That trial would mean that many would have to testify under oath as to exactly what took place. Personally, I would like to see that trial go forward and expose the NCAA for what they truly are. Imagine bluffing a major institution into accepting sanctions that were not warranted. I have to ask if this is the type of leadership our athletic programs need?? I would hope not. I have been saying for some time that Emmert and those that support him should all be fired.
In addition to the NCAA not wanting to testify in an open trial, I have the feeling that there are a few others.
For example, who at Penn State hired, Louis Freeh in the first place? We have to believe that such an individual also had to know that the NCAA was working with Freeh and did nothing. Maybe this would be someone that was trying to discourage new board members from finding out the truth, by encouraging them to move on to the future and let the past be the past. I am always uneasy when people say to move on. Most of the time that means there is more going on that people do not want known. Maybe current board President, Keith Masser can answer some of these questions.
So with all I have said, this is what I would not be surprised to see happen in the next few weeks
THE 60 MILLION DOLLARS WILL STAY IN THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA
JOE PATERNO'S 111 WINS WILL BE REINSTATED MAKING HIM THE WINNINGEST COACH IN DIVISION 1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL
There is so much more to this whole Penn State/Jerry SanduskyNCAA story that will surprise many I am sure. For example, Paterno's firing had absolutely nothing to do with Sandusky. If anyone wants a little insight on that, then Google: THE SURMA VENDETTA-Second Mile Sandusky. Interesting reading and another reason as to why Paterno's wins will be reinstated.
Maybe someday the whole story will be known and the so called experts who created a media frenzy will finally realize that their thoughts and reporting had only scratched the surface. Of course them admitting that would be another story. STAY TUNED !!!!!!

I read the #Surma vendetta for 1st time a few weeks back. That joker turned a tragic abuse case into his own personal plot against #Paterno There's a place for people like Surma
i thought they already restored them. that shoulda been done a LONG time ago.
GO P S U !
