BIG 12 BASKETBALL OFFICIALS STEAL THE SHOW

During the football season, we rated the Big 12 as having the worst officials.  After witnessing yesterday's basketball game between TCU and West Virginia, it looks like this conference could have the worst officials in basketball as well.  TCU was undefeated and playing at home against once beaten, # 17 ranked WVU, so the match up had gained some national interest.  The players held up their end as both teams played hard, in what was a close game until the very end.  TCU led most of the way, but West Virginia pulled away at the end to win 78-67.  Unfortunately, this was another game that was totally taken over by the officials,  You would think that these guys were auditioning to become NBA officials or thought the televised game was on for the whole country to just see them.  A total of 61 fouls were called and the televised time ran over with the game lasting, 2 hours and 20 minutes.  At times, it seemed like play could not last 30 seconds without another foul being called.  These guys called touchy, meaningless fouls or fouls where the replay showed no contact at all.  Coaches on both teams were frustrated and getting warned about their complaints, but no one could blame them as the officials took the game away from them as well.   33 fouls called against WVU, 28 called against TCU, 66 foul shooting attempts, and a game lasting over 2 hours, does not make a case for a game to be entertaining.  The last couple of years it was the Big East conference that got our vote as having the worst officials, but these guys yesterday made a case to take over that distinction.  The game needs officials and fouls need to be called, but never to the point where the officials think the game is about them.
Let the coaches coach and players play and the games will be much more entertaining.
