Penn State snubbed by classless Maryland captains

At the start of every college football game, the captains of each team meet in the middle of the field for the coin toss to determine who will get the ball first.  The players shake hands and await the result of the officials toss of the coin.  Since this is a pretty simple procedure, I am sure every team in the country was able to handle this easy task without any problem.  Well that is every team except one, the University of Maryland.
As the captains for  the Maryland/Penn State game met in the center of the field, the Penn State captains extended their hands only to be snubbed by the Maryland captains, who  kept their hands at their side, and ignored the Penn State group.  The result was an unsportsmanlike penalty of 15 yards to be assessed on the kickoff.  I have to wonder what part played in the decision to snub the Penn State captains.  Maryland is an average team that really does not need to snub anyone.  Maybe the coin toss is a class taught at Maryland that these captains decided to never show up for.  Maybe it was some sort of a macho statement that only resulted in making them look stupid.  Coach, Randy Edsall stated that the coin toss snub was not approved or orchestrated by the coaching staff and offered an apology for the act.  I am sure this is true as Edsall would not want to endorse such an act to the national TV audience that portrays a dark cloud upon the university.  Then again, I have to ask who picked these individuals who lack sportsmanship and character in the first place?  Edsall will probably practice the coin toss this week as part of his regular drills since it is obvious his captains do not understand how it works.  Maybe by their next game, they will eliminate this classless act.
